SENSITIVE ROBOT:
A starshaped robot, developed by Cornell University (USA) is the first of its kind. It adapts to its enviornment just the way animals do! The four-legged Starfish Robot responds to enviornmental changes. It can also sense when it is damaged. For instance, if it loses one leg, it swithches to a three-legged walk.
The STAR SHAPED ROBOT can even manage unforeseen changes. It is programmed to first test all its joints. This information is then fed to the software that quickly scans the different models of motion that the robot is capable of,before hitting on the ideal one which then tells the robot where to go and how.
UNDER WATER ROBOT:
Japanese scientists at Osaka University have developed to resemble a squid (Sea animal). This under water robot has a long flat body and can enter narrow spaces. The rubber fins on either side of the robot help it to 'swim'.
According to Osaka University's Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, under water robots work in conditions that are far harsher than outer space. They are programmed to maintain their depth in choppy waters. They can even monitor deep ocean enviornments and perform rescue missions at great depths.
SUPER EMPLOYEES:
The Tokyo-based company Ubiquitous Exchange is hiring out robot workers called Ubiko after having successfully tested the robots out as robotic receptionists at a local hospital. The Ubiko can greet visitors, answer questions and carry around luggage and packages.
